Meet Sunny

A painting should make you feel something

SUNNY GOODE
Sunny is an Aesthetic Activist, utilizing her artwork to inspire social change. She promotes relationship health by creating products inspiring organic conversations about love. These conversations lead her to The One LOVE Foundation, which she raises awareness for daily.

She is an entrepreneur and contemporary full time artist who holds a BA in Art History from Hollins University in 1990. Sunny also completed coursework in the physiological and psychological effects of color, through the IACC-NA in California.
In her own words, "Color is how I communicate. Even in my earliest memories, color was the primary voice – it is no wonder I became an artist and love to paint. I believe, “A painting should make you feel something”. I often look back at a series I’ve done and realize that I can “see” very clearly what was going on in my life at that time, in the lines and shapes, but primarily with the colors I used. I tend to paint in a series, working through an emotion, or savoring a feeling I get by painting a similar subject with different color variations. Painting brings me joy and also helps me through more difficult times in my life. I often think of it as my mental yoga. I hope my paintings  evoke an emotion and create a feeling that gets deeper each time you look at them."

Recently she started this company, LOVEVOLVE LLC. Using the knowledge of the physiological and psychological effects of color, Sunny creates products from her art therapy art utilizing the word LOVE and EVOLVE. Her work is then printed onto products, primarily textiles, scarves and baby swaddles. Her interests lie in the intangible aspects of her work and the energy around the pieces. If you literally wrap an baby in LOVE and send a baby home from the hospital with a swaddle with this very visual daily reminder, what are the long term social and emotional effects of this? Starting September 1, 2020 all babies born this year at the HCA Henrico Doctors in Richmond Virginia hospital will be wrapped in LOVE. It will be fun to watch the effects. Sunny encourages all who are in the maternity world to join the LOVEVOLVE Love Swaddle "™" mission. Awareness is the beginning of change.

Her work has been featured in publications such as Southern Living, Traditional Home, Coastal Living and The Washington Post. Sunny currently resides in  Virginia with her three children, Presley, Whit, and Beck. She is represented by art dealers in Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York and Washington, DC. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections all over the country.
